Today we want to explain the differences between a Minimalism t-shirt and an H&M one.

If you prefer to see it on video you can watch it here:

Manufacturing in Portugal vs Bangladesh

H&M T-shirts are made in Bangladesh, while Minimalism T-shirts are made in Portugal.

The difference in production location has a direct impact on the quality and sustainability of the garments, as labour and environmental standards can vary from country to country. Portugal has a reputation for being a hub for responsible textile production, while Bangladesh has been criticised in the past for its working conditions.

We must also take into account the carbon footprint of sending finished products from Bangladesh or Portugal to our logistics centre in Madrid. It is obvious that 400 km away, manufacturing in Portugal, generates less CO2 than 13,000 km away if they were manufactured in Bangladesh.

Using certified organic cotton vs regular cotton

Another important difference between H&M and Minimalism T-shirts is the type of cotton used. Minimalism T-shirts are made from OCS100 certified organic cotton, which is grown without the use of pesticides and chemicals harmful to the environment. On the other hand, H&M T-shirts are made from regular cotton, which can have a negative impact on the environment during its production.

Weight of 180 grams vs weight to be determined

The weight of a T-shirt refers to the weight of the fabric per square meter. Minimalism T-shirts have a weight of 180 grams, which means they are thicker and sturdier. In contrast, the weight of H&M T-shirts cannot be determined due to the lack of information available on their website. If durability is a priority for you, you may want to choose a T-shirt with a higher weight.

Price of the shirt 20€ vs 6€

One major difference between the two brands is the price of their t-shirts. Minimalism t-shirts are priced at around €20, costing between €5.55 and €6.20 to make. Whereas H&M t-shirts are priced at around €6. If price and how the garments are made is an important factor for you, then you might prefer to buy Minimalism t-shirts.

Durability of the garment: 2 years vs 3 uses

Finally, it is important to compare the durability of the garments. According to some of our studies and customer reviews, Minimalism T-shirts can last up to two years with regular use. On the other hand, there are some studies that suggest that H&M T-shirts can wear out after only a few wears.
