How to fold socks?

Folding socks seems silly :/

But doing it one way or another can make them take up more space, lose their shape, or leave you with a drawer full of mismatched socks.

Here is how we do it.

FOLDING THEM WITHOUT DEFORMING THEM

There is a very common way to store socks: tucking one inside the other and folding the top over to form a kind of ball.

It's fast, yes.

But it's not the best option if you want to keep the sock's shape well, especially the elastic band.

Our recommendation is much simpler:

1. Put the two socks of the same pair together.
2. Place them one on top of the other.
3. Fold them in half.
4. Fold them once more.

This way, you get a small bundle that takes up little space, and you don't need to stretch the elastic to keep them together.

AND WHAT ABOUT NO-SHOW SOCKS?

No-show socks are a bit different because they are much smaller.

In this case, you can place one sock on top of the other and fold them in half.

Then, a second fold and you're done.

There's no need to make a ball or roll them up. Being so small, folded they take up practically no space.

A TRICK TO AVOID LOSING PAIRS

Our socks have a small green stitch.

It may seem like an insignificant detail, but it serves a very practical purpose: finding and matching pairs much more easily.

When you have several black, gray, or white socks mixed in the drawer, you just have to look for the green stitch and check that they match.

Less time looking for the missing sock. :)

THEY TAKE UP LESS SPACE

One of the advantages of folding them this way is that you can make much better use of the drawer space.

Instead of having socks rolled up into little balls, you can place them side by side and see them all at a glance.

And this also makes it much easier to know which socks you have and which ones you need to wash.
